It contains information on organizations, their R & D staff, current research activities, major publications, etc. An index has been also provided for the research institutions, affiliation in order to facilitate cross-refrence access. Of all the R & D institutions listed in this directory, 18 percent are in agricultural sciences, 4 percent are in basic sciences, 12 percent are in engineering and technology, 23 percent are in medical sciences, 11 percent are in humanities, 5 percent are in social sciences and 27 percent are in inter-diciplinary sciences carrying out research and development activities.
